SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department is mourning the death of Officer Joshua Duarte.

On Monday, SDPD made the announcement via Facebook.

Duarte, who joined the department in 2019 and served most of his career with SDPD’s Southeastern Division, died Friday.

“He will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, deep pride in his family and Filipino and Hawaiian heritage, and his dedication as both an SDPD officer and a United States Marine,” SDPD said. “Thank you, Officer Duarte, for your service to the Southeastern community and the City of San Diego.”

Duarte’s officer number is #7845.
