Lieutenant Jared Wilson joined the Department in 2004 as a radio dispatcher and entered the 69th Regional Police Academy in 2006. He has served as a patrol officer in Eastern, Central, Western, Mid-City and Southern Divisions. He was promoted to sergeant in 2015 and was assigned as a patrol supervisor at Northern and Mid-City Divisions, as a Crime Suppression Team supervisor and as a supervisor in the Human Resources Unit at Headquarters.
In 2024 Jared was promoted to lieutenant and is currently assigned to the Research Analysis and Planning Unit. Over the years his special assignments have included peer support, field training officer, field evidence technician, Street Crimes Unit and the Gaslamp Bike Team. Jared is a San Diego State University graduate with a degree in public administration. His wife is also a detective with the San Diego Police Department.
Jared was first elected to the Board in 2017 and served as the chair of the Labor Management Committee. He was elected to the SDPOA Executive Board in 2021 as the secretary. He was elected as the president in January 2022 and again in January 2024.
Jared also serves as a vice president of the San Diego/Imperial Chapter of PORAC and the area vice president of the National Association of Police Organizations.
Jared and his family live in Poway. In his time off he is a volunteer Cub Scout leader. He previously served on the City of Poway Budget Review Committee and as a commissioner for the City of San Diego Citizens Advisory Board on Police/Community Relations.
