David grew up in Otay Mesa, San Diego, and graduated from Montgomery High School. He earned a degree in business management from Cal State San Marcos and an associate degree in biblical studies from Southern California Seminary. David has been married for over 18 years and has three kids. David enjoys camping and road tripping with the family.
David joined the SDPD in January 2009. He has worked as a patrol officer in Southern, Southeastern and Traffic Divisions. He left Traffic to become a field training officer and later worked as a long-term acting sergeant. In 2020, David transferred to Domestic Violence, where he worked as an acting detective until he was later promoted to detective. In 2021, David promoted to sergeant and was assigned to Northwestern Division. David currently works as a patrol sergeant in Eastern Division.
David will always stand for what he believes is right. In three words, David stands for God, Family and Freedom. David considers it a blessing to work in a profession where he gets to serve the community as a law enforcement officer.
David is happy to serve the POA membership and is thankful for their support.
